The campaign of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva accused Meta of election interference on October 11, 2026, after his social media content was allegedly blocked.

Before the first round won by Flavio Bolsonaro, the profiles of Lula and other leftist leaders disappeared from Instagram’s search function, according to France24. Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) gave Meta 48 hours to clarify whether it reduced the reach of Lula campaign posts, according to The Hindu. Meta denied the charges, calling them “simply false” and not supported by the facts, according to France24.
