Ethiopian federal forces were in full control of Mekelle, the Tigray rebels' regional capital, according to a local journalist, on Sunday, as Ethiopia's regional rivals gathered in Egypt.

The presidents of Egypt, Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea, all with difficult relations with Ethiopia, were set to meet in Alamein on Sunday to discuss the conflict, according to AFP. The People's Liberation Front of Tigray (TPLF) said it had temporarily moved out of Mekelle to operate from somewhere else, according to Al Jazeera.
