About 245,981 buildings, or 74.5% of all structures existing before October 7, 2023, are likely to have been damaged or destroyed in the Gaza Strip, according to a satellite radar-driven structural analysis by the Conflict Ecology lab, published by The Hindu.
The analysis used satellite data from October 7, 2023, to August 3, 2026, with 258 Sentinel-1 radar images in 12-day observation windows. The lab said it completed a three-year assessment in Gaza with active monitoring of repeat damage every 12 days.
