South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said that North Korean land mines were the highly likely cause of the September 21 explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which injured three soldiers, according to The Korea Times.

North Korea denied the claim on Wednesday, accused Seoul of fabricating the findings and warned of “immediate and merciless” retaliation if its troops are fired upon, according to The Korea Herald.
