A survey by the INSA institute for the Bild newspaper put Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) at 18 percent, its worst postwar result in Germany, according to RT.
The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) stood at 30 percent, its best result since the party’s founding in 2013, in the same poll of 1,202 eligible voters conducted between September 28 and October 2.
