Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree on Saturday cancelling the November 28, 2026 legislative elections and setting simultaneous presidential and legislative elections for September 11, 2027, according to the Wafa news agency.

The decree followed a decision by the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and consultations with Palestinian factions and political forces, which produced a national consensus on obstacles posed by Israeli measures, the Middle East Eye reported.
