Saudi Arabia launched an air safety probe into the flydubai flight FZ1073 incident, alongside the UAE-led criminal investigation, according to three people close to the matter, in a Reuters report republished by The Straits Times.

The country notified specialist aviation agencies abroad that it would carry out a safety investigation under international rules; the flight was in Saudi airspace when the co-pilot attacked the captain with an axe. Israel has offered to take part in any Saudi-led safety investigation but has not so far been invited, according to the head of Israel’s air accident agency, to Reuters.
