Afghanistan's Defence Ministry said it had killed 41 fighters and captured 62 in Kamdesh district, in the northeastern province of Nuristan, between Sunday and Tuesday.

In a statement issued late on Tuesday night, the ministry said the fighters included members of the Islamic State group and had crossed into Afghanistan “with the support” of Pakistan, according to the Associated Press, in a report published by Arab News.
