France’s education minister, Edouard Geffray, said that security conditions have not been met in about 400 to 500 schools, which will be fully or partly closed on Monday, while organizers called for renewed large-scale protests on Tuesday, citing a lack of “concrete measures” from the government.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez says that 1,747 people were arrested on Friday and 24 schools have been burned or ransacked since the protests began.
