About 400 inmates at Roumieh prison went on hunger strike on September 12 against the suspension of the general amnesty law, according to Al Jazeera.

Lawyer Mohammed Sablouh told Al Jazeera that about 400 prisoners have been on strike for more than two weeks and ambulances enter daily to take them away because their condition is dire. Implementation of the law was suspended on September 10 after an appeal to the Constitutional Council seeking to overturn the law, according to Ahram Online.
