At least 81 US military aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, were lost or damaged in Operation Epic Fury against Iran, according to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report released on Monday and reported by Al Jazeera.

The CBO estimated the cost of the aircraft losses as of August 1 at between $1.9bn and $3.3bn. The aircraft include 12 F-15E fighter jets, one F-35A and seven KC-135 tanker aircraft; 45 of the 81 are MQ-9 Reaper drones. In a separate report in September, the CBO estimated the total cost of the war with Iran as of August 1 at about $38bn.
