Thursday marks 30 days since Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar's order to close the British consulate in East Jerusalem, a retaliatory move against the UK's wave of sanctions on illegal Israeli settlements, according to Al Jazeera.

Former British consul Vincent Fean told Al Jazeera that Israel acts unlawfully and has no right to interfere in the diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and the State of Palestine. Reports cited by Al Jazeera claimed the UK could expel 27 Israeli diplomats if the consulate closure goes ahead.
