The head of Iran's Department of Environment, Shina Ansari, said US strikes on the petrochemical hub in the Iranian city of Asaluyeh generated emissions equivalent to 1.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, according to Sputnik.
Ansari said the amount equals what 66 million mature trees absorb annually, according to Iranian state television.
