Pakistan says it has a substantial contingent of forces and resources in Saudi Arabia in a defensive capacity, amid Houthi attacks.

The Pakistani foreign ministry spokesperson said those troops would not cross the border to attack the Houthis and would act in defence of Saudi territory. The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, signed on August 7, 2026 by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, commits the three countries to treat an armed attack against one member as an attack against all.
