Israel has still not allowed the contract for the first Board of Peace base in Gaza to move forward, two months after it was issued, the Guardian reported, citing a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

The organization, authorized by the UN in 2025 and chaired by US President Donald Trump, issued its first construction contract for Gaza in early August: Louisiana-based Arkel International would build a military outpost for 150 international troops, the vanguard of an international stabilization force. Contractors and trucks are not being allowed to cross into Gaza and begin the work. “Israel won’t open the border,” they said.
