The European Union supports extending the mandate of UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Thursday, according to AFP, in a text published by Türkiye Today.

Kallas said she expected EU foreign ministers to formally establish the new mission on Monday, October 12. The EU's new military mission in Lebanon is expected to have a permanent component of around 100 personnel, according to Rapporteur.
