The Italian Parliament approved a law giving the winning party or coalition that reaches 42 percent in both houses a bonus of 70 seats in the lower house and 35 in the Senate, according to The New York Times.
Critics call it “Melonellum,” saying the law was made by the current government to bolster its chances at re-election next year.
