The US Department of Justice said that Saudi national Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, a former OpenAI engineer, was arrested last week on allegations of placing a secret audio recording device inside an executive conference room at the company.

OpenAI discovered the device on 30 September, connected to a USB port behind a television in an executive meeting room at its San Francisco office, according to the FBI complaint. The company said it has no indications, at this time, that the individual inappropriately accessed or exfiltrated model weights, source code or customer data; the employee was terminated.
