The co-pilot of the flydubai flight said during interrogation that he planned to direct the hijacked aircraft to Tel Aviv and steer it into Ben Gurion Airport’s terminal, according to unnamed sources cited by Israeli Channel 12 and reproduced by TASS.

The plan was thwarted only because the commander, despite his injuries, managed to open the cockpit door, TASS reported. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for a thorough review of “all aspects” of security of foreign civil flights to Israel in the wake of the attack, according to The Washington Post.
