The eastern-based House of Representatives elected Al-Salhin Abdulnabi as speaker on Tuesday, replacing Aguila Saleh after nearly 12 years in the post, and elected Tarek al-Ashtar and Mesbah Douma as first and second deputy speakers, respectively, according to Reuters.

The 170-member parliament voted to replace Saleh with Al-Salhin Abdulnabi, with the spokesperson’s announcement on X, according to Al Jazeera.
