North Korea said it launched an intermediate-range missile from the country’s east on Saturday that hit a target 1,000 km out at sea, in a drill overseen by Kim Jong Un, according to The Hindu, in a Reuters report.
South Korea’s military said on Saturday it had detected a ballistic missile launch and assessed the missile had flown more than 700 km toward the sea off its east coast. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the drill was intended to train troops operating a hypersonic strategic weapon system and to assess the reliability, efficiency and mobility of the country’s war deterrent.
