Fighting is intensifying across northern Ethiopia and has spread from Tigray into the neighbouring Amhara and Afar regions, according to Al Jazeera.
Government-aligned forces say they captured the strategic town of Alamata, Tigray, on September 28, while Tigrayan forces have pushed into Afar, according to the same broadcaster. Seven armed and political groups announced on September 20 an alliance aimed at removing Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government and establishing an inclusive transitional government, also according to Al Jazeera.
