A day after US President Donald Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel, Russian strikes killed at least 11 people in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region on Saturday, October 10, according to officials cited by The Hindu.

Three children were among the dead and at least 16 people were wounded when Russian aerial bombs hit residential buildings, said Mykhailo Semikin, head of the regional military administration. Ukraine's national police said Russia targeted residential neighborhoods with five guided aerial bombs early Saturday, according to Asharq Al-Awsat. Trump wrote that Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel, followed by an additional 500,000 tonnes in November 2026 and 1 million tonnes immediately thereafter, with 3 million more within a short period of time. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the deal “a weak decision, unfortunately, a weak decision by strong partners”.
