The UK Security Service (MI5) said that more than 100 UK-based academics had contributed to projects funded by the China General Technology Research Institute (CGTRI), according to Reuters, in a text republished by The Olympian.
According to Reuters, in a text republished by UNN, MI5 established that CGTRI’s primary purpose is to fund academic research that directly enhances the technical espionage capabilities of China’s state security service (MSS). The funded projects include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, covert communications systems and steganography.
