France test-fired its new M51.3 nuclear-capable ballistic missile for the first time on Tuesday, a variant of the M51, launched from the Le Vigilant nuclear submarine off Brittany, according to the French defence ministry.
The missile carried no warhead and impacted in the North Atlantic, hundreds of kilometres from any coastline. President Emmanuel Macron made an unexpected appearance at the launch, according to Le Monde.
