Brazil’s attorney general, Jorge Messias, called on law enforcement to investigate alleged efforts by the United States to fund far-right causes in Brazil, according to Al Jazeera.
The request came one day after the British newspaper The Guardian published a story suggesting that Donald Trump’s administration planned to award $1m to right-wing civil groups opposing Brazil’s Supreme Court. Messias said foreign meddling “cannot be tolerated” and that the report was “an important alert for Brazilian sovereignty”.
