Taiwan will acquire a NT$46.55 million (US$1.45 million) artificial intelligence (AI) system that analyzes satellite imagery covering 100 sq km (38.6 square miles) within minutes and identifies People’s Liberation Army ships, aircraft and missile launchers, according to the South China Morning Post, which cites the island’s defense ministry.
The contract took effect on September 25, and the system is expected to be completed by the end of April.
