Taiwan said on Sunday, October 18, that it had driven away 16 Chinese vessels, including coast guard, research and fishing ships, involved in simultaneous operations that the island’s coast guard calls “maritime harassment”.

According to the statement, an “unusually large” number of Chinese vessels took part in the coordinated operations around Taiwan’s main island and Pratas, a disputed island to the southwest.
