France: 1.6 million in the streets and Lecornu calls a social conference for Monday
The Nov. 5, 2026 day of action joined unions and students in the strongest show of force of the autumn: 575,000 according to the Interior Ministry, nearly 1.6 million according to the General Confederation of Labour (CGT). By nightfall Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu had scheduled a social conference on wages and purchasing power for Monday, Nov. 9, 2026.
