Tanzania announced the discovery of 223 billion cubic feet (6.3 billion cubic meters) of natural gas in Mnazi Bay, in the south of the country — the first such find in a decade, according to the BBC. The Kasa-1X ST2 well, owned by state-run Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and French firm Maurel & Prom, is expected to start production early next month. Energy Minister Juma Homera called the discovery a “major milestone” for the country's oil and gas sector.
