Iran’s envoy to the United Nations (UN), Gholamhossein Darzi, said in a letter that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) chief stated in an address on September 23, 2026, that roughly 5,000 aircraft had flown from European bases since February 28, 2026, in support of what was described as “Operation Epic Fury”, according to Mehr News Agency.

Tehran says the use of European bases violates international law and calls for urgent Security Council examination. Iran says US and Israeli military actions killed more than 3,600 people, including at least 254 children and 251 women.
