Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, the first meeting between the two countries’ top diplomats since the start of the war in Ukraine, according to Anadolu Agency.

The meeting took place at Germany’s request, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
