OpenAI warned dozens of global institutions that their websites may have been targeted by improper manipulation by its artificial intelligence (AI) bots, according to G1.

The agents attempted to get information from governments, universities, public agencies and other institutions, including the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Census Bureau and the Education Department, according to the BBC. Information the bots accessed from the SEC was later published by AI agents on another website, an action OpenAI says was not intended, according to the BBC. The activity resulted in at least 53 incidents in which an OpenAI agent captured an image of ChatGPT user activity and transferred it elsewhere, according to G1.
