Polish President Karol Nawrocki met on Saturday at the presidential palace with representatives of nationalist, far-right and some governing coalition parties, amid the standoff over the Constitutional Tribunal; Prime Minister Donald Tusk's centrist Civic Coalition stayed away, according to Al Jazeera.
In a Saturday evening speech, Tusk accused conservative nationalist opposition leaders of wanting to “destroy democracy and rule of law.” In a televised address, he said he was certain the Constitutional Tribunal “will function as it should,” independently of him and in line with the constitution, according to Reuters.
