The United States and Japan agreed to build a final assembly and inspection plant for the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) in Japan, NPR reported.

The announcement was made by Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi at a news conference on Wednesday night in the central Philippine province of Cebu, where he met US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The missiles to be produced under the joint effort called Operation Supercharge are essential for F-35 fighter jets, Koizumi said.
