Russia and Ukraine have both reported cyberattacks targeting their emergency alert apps, with hackers sending fake warnings of nuclear, chemical and radiation threats to mobile phone users.

In Russia, the emergency ministry's app was hit by a massive cyberattack that resulted in the spread of false information to the public, according to Reuters, which cited the state news agency TASS. The fake alert sent to Russia's app warned that nuclear warheads mounted on P1-Suns, a Ukrainian attack drone, had been launched against all regions of Russia.
