French President Emmanuel Macron made a surprise “solidarity” visit to Riyadh and became the first Western leader to land in Saudi Arabia since the Houthis intensified their attacks this month, Al Jazeera reported.

The trip comes as Saudi Arabia agreed to supply extra diesel to France “for as many months as necessary”, the Elysee Palace told Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Wednesday.
