The UN warned on Friday that time is running out to get aid into Taiz, besieged by Houthi fighters who are preventing supplies from reaching Yemen’s third-largest city, it said, according to the Middle East Eye.
Houthi fighters have encircled Taiz since early October and blocked the road that links it to Aden, the interim capital of Yemen’s internationally recognised government. Road closures and diesel shortages have halved the city’s water production and roughly tripled the price of trucked water, which most residents depend on, Laerke said.
