Dimona Mayor Benny Biton, a close associate of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told Kan News on Sunday that Netanyahu wants to form a unity government and that Israeli President Isaac Herzog and US President Donald Trump would serve as guarantors of an agreement with Yashar party head Gadi Eisenkot.
Biton said he spoke with Herzog on Saturday and that the two presidents would assure the opposition that a unity government would hold. He also warned that an opposition attempt to replace Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana before a coalition is formed would be a “declaration of war,” and that without a national unity government the country is heading for another election, because “neither bloc will manage to form a government under any circumstances.”
