China's Communist Party leadership elected General Zhang Shengmin, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, to the Politburo, according to NPR.
Zhang was the commission's only remaining general besides Xi Jinping after Xi purged two of China's top generals, which left the Politburo without any representatives from the People's Liberation Army, according to the same report.
