US President Donald Trump announced on Friday afternoon, on his Truth Social platform, that Stephen Miller will replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff and confirmed that she was ousted.
Miller, who was deputy chief of staff and is the architect of the administration’s immigration policy, takes the post days after Democrats won the midterm elections and ended Republican control of Congress. Hakeem Jeffries, the top Democrat in the House, called Miller “a dangerous xenophobe and reckless extremist” and demanded he be fired. The White House responded that Miller is a “key player” in delivering Trump’s agenda. According to POLITICO, in a report by the Times of India, Katie Miller, the new chief of staff’s wife, made around half a dozen calls to people close to Trump, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, to defend her husband’s nomination. She responded to the report by posting: “Wife supports husband. If your wife doesn’t do this, find a new one.”
