Democrat Amy Acton defeated Republican Vivek Ramaswamy to become the first woman elected governor of Ohio, NBC News projected.
She is the first Democrat to win the state’s governorship since Ted Strickland in 2006, ending 16 years of Republican control. She took 50.6% of the vote, or 2,051,961 ballots, to 46.0%, or 1,863,826, according to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State.
