Thousands of people gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday for a large anti-government demonstration, three days ahead of a general election widely seen as a referendum on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to France 24.

The protest was organised by the October Council, a group founded by the families of victims and of hostages taken by Palestinian militants on October 7, 2023, to demand accountability for the failure to prevent the Hamas attack that sparked the Gaza war. On Hostage Square, participants demanded a commission of inquiry into the failures of the October 7, 2023 massacre, with most opposition leaders present, according to the Jerusalem Post.
