France’s government estimated 320,000 protesters nationwide on Saturday, with about 70,000 in Paris, in a third consecutive weekend of demonstrations against the cost of living and inequality, according to AFP.
The estimate was lower than in previous protests, according to AP. More than 500 people were arrested and police fired water cannon and tear gas to disperse rioters on the sidelines of the demonstrations, according to AFP.
