Israel votes on Tuesday in its first general election since the October 7, 2023 attack. Many of Benjamin Netanyahu's opponents see the vote as a chance at last to deliver a reckoning for the worst security failure in generations, according to Reuters, in text published by the Times of Israel.

Opinion polls have for months predicted a sharp drop for Netanyahu's Likud party, but a rival alliance of right, left and center parties also has no clear path to power. On the eve of the vote, President Isaac Herzog received the credentials of five new ambassadors, who will serve under the next government, the Jerusalem Post reported.
