The State Department will grant visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family and allow them into the country, a senior State Department official told the Associated Press (AP), after the senator’s weekend loss to incumbent Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Earlier, Reuters and The New York Times reported, citing anonymous sources, that he had left Brazil for the United States — a case under investigation by the Federal Police (PF) —, and the Trump administration has not said whether the senator is already on American soil.
