Britain will deploy Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets to Saudi Arabia to help defend the kingdom against attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, the UK government announced on Tuesday, according to DW.
The British Ministry of Defence said the aircraft will protect Saudi cities and critical infrastructure from drones and missiles and will not carry out offensive strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. In Taiz, Yemen’s third-largest city, Houthi rebels struck a residential area on Tuesday, killing two teenage girls, according to the Times of Israel, which highlighted the UN warning that the siege leaves civilians at grave risk.
