Israel began requiring airlines to submit crew information 48 hours before departure, among other steps to bolster security.
According to the Times of India, the requirements apply to inbound and outbound flights by Israeli and foreign carriers and were ordered by Benjamin Netanyahu after a security review. The change follows the attempted hijacking of a Flydubai flight carrying Israeli passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv, when Omani copilot Hamam al-Hammami allegedly attacked Indian captain Smit Machchhar and tried to seize control of the aircraft.
