Houthi rebels struck a residential area in Taiz, Yemen’s third-largest city, which is under attack and siege, on Tuesday, killing two teenage girls, the Associated Press (AP) reported in a text republished by PBS News.
The UN human rights chief said civilians in Taiz are at grave risk and that humanitarian aid “must be immediately allowed to enter the city” with its passage facilitated, and that civilians wishing to leave must be allowed to do so “freely and safely”. The strike on Taiz came a day after a Houthi attack on a government military camp killed 73 recruits, the deadliest since the conflict’s resurgence over the summer, according to a senior Yemeni government official.
