A suspected cyberattack hit grocery stores in at least nine European countries on Monday, and the European Union (EU) warned of a deliberate attempt to disrupt the bloc's food supply chain.

European Agriculture and Food Commissioner Christophe Hansen said the incidents are “a deliberate attempt to disrupt our food supply chain and undermine consumers' confidence.” The Paris prosecutor's office counted around 700 victims in October's attack on French supermarkets, and around 40 Delhaize supermarkets in Belgium and Luxembourg were affected, along with a smaller number of shops in Sweden, Ireland, the Netherlands, Estonia and Finland.
